Dear Parents,
The second and third graders are learning to read and spell words with different syllable types. Spelling and reading are easier if you can read one syllable (part) at a time. The children have practiced writing longer, more detailed sentences. They are increasing the number of words they can spell correctly including words that follow the rules and those that do not.
.
Thank you for all the work you do with your child at home. I will not see the children every day in May and June because of assessments I must do in grades K-3. Also, The children will be involved in special class activities and field trips. Please encourage your children to read books that they continue over a few days or a week. Reading both stories and informational books and magazines that interest them will boost their reading skills and their confidence.
The final Title I progress reports will be sent home at the end of the school year. We will decide in the fall which students will get extra reading support next year.
Please don’t hesitate to email me with questions or to set up a conference if you have questions.
Linda
